A 1977 song lands in a 20th Century Fox trailer
David Russell, famously known for films like American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, returned to the silver screen in 2022 with “Amsterdam.” A film that kept pace with Russell’s iconic style blending comedy, mystery, and scandal — all which had to be reflected in the film’s trailer.
Over at Wise Music Creative, Oscar Mazzola had the perfect song — “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” by Santa Esmeralda. However, as the song was produced in the 1970’s, the publishing group Wise Music Creative was faced with an all too frequent challenge for music supervision: they didn’t have access to the original project files. Without stems and instrumentals, it’d be impossible to edit the dialogue of the trailer over the vocals of the master track.
When the sync opportunity with 20th Century Fox was on the table, they turned to AudioShake to create a high-quality instrumental sufficient for the trailer.
“For this deal to close, we had to move swiftly and create stems of a song originally produced in the 70’s. We didn’t have the original project files, but fortunately, AudioShake quickly created stems for us. It was a huge win for our team.” — Oscar A. Mazzola, VP of A&R, Film, TV and Ads, Wise Music Creative
AudioShake’s AI was able to cleanly separate the master track into its stems and provide a high-quality instrumental. Wise Music Creative was able to close the deal and provide stems for the sound editors to use in the final trailer.
