Remove reverb and echo from audio

Speech DeReverb removes reflections, echo, and the lingering tail that smear speech in reverberant spaces, producing a dry, closer-sounding result. It works on the speech already in the recording, without synthetic processing.

What is AudioShake Speech DeReverb?

Speech DeReverb isolates speech and removes reverberation from audio — echo, early reflections, and reverb tail — to recover dry, intelligible speech.

In a reverberant space, sound bounces off hard surfaces, and those reflections trail the speech and smear the words even when nothing is technically noisy. Where Speech Denoise preserves the natural sound of a space, DeReverb deliberately removes it — producing a dry, closer-sounding result. Because it recovers the speech already present rather than regenerating it, the output stays faithful to what was said.

Strip the room, not the voice

Reverberation isn't noise — it's the recording's own sound arriving late, reflected off walls, floors, and ceilings. Standard tools struggle to separate those reflections from the direct speech. Speech DeReverb removes the reflections and echo, while leaving the voice intact, producing audio that sounds closer to the source.
clearer speech on degraded audio — muffled dialogue, background noise, low-quality captures
less echo and reverb pulled out of the recording
better sound quality, with fuller, more natural tone

Built for spaces where the room is the problem

01
Interviews and field capture
Interviews that hold up after a difficult venue
Conversations captured in stairwells, lobbies, and large halls pick up reflections that smear the words. Speech DeReverb produces a dry, closer result from the original recording, so the words come through without altering the substance of the answers.
02
Public safety and forensics
De-reverbed audio that stays faithful to the source
Recordings from vehicles, holding rooms, and reverberant interiors are often the only account of what was said. Speech DeReverb removes the room’s reflections while processing the original signal, keeping the result suited to evidence review and transcription where provenance matters.
03
Podcasting and content creation
Consistent sound from rooms that were never studios
Podcasts and remote interviews are recorded in untreated rooms, on hard surfaces, and over whatever setup a guest has. Speech DeReverb removes the room from the recording and brings the voice forward, so episodes hold together across guests and locations without re-recording or acoustic treatment.
05
FiLM AND television
When ADR isn’t an option and the room is in every line
Dialogue shot in stairwells, vehicles, and hard-surfaced interiors carries the room’s reflections into the recording. For unscripted and documentary work, where re-recording isn’t possible and ADR is costly, Speech DeReverb removes those reflections to give editors drier dialogue to match and cut — without changing what was said.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does drier dialogue speed up ADR and editing?

Reflections that smear the words make dialogue harder to match and edit. Removing them produces dry dialogue that's faster to match in ADR, cleaner to edit, and easier to transcribe.

Does removing reverb change how the voice sounds?

The voice itself stays intact — DeReverb recovers the speech already in the recording rather than regenerating it. What changes is the room: the reflections that trailed the words are gone, so the result sounds dry and closer to the source.

Does Speech DeReverb also remove background noise?

No. DeReverb targets reverberation, not noise. If the problem is interfering sound — hum, hiss, crowd, wind — use Speech Denoise.

What does Speech DeReverb remove?

Speech DeReverb removes room reflections, echo, and the lingering tail that smear speech in reverberant spaces. What's left is dry, closer-sounding speech with the voice intact.
