Fans "play along" with Green Day
Working with AudioShake

As managers of some of today's biggest artists, CRUSH and its music industry partners often run into the problem of missing stems--an audio engineer's hard drive might crash, or an artist may make an impromptu live recording and then needs the stems months or years later. Working in partnership with its artists and various rightsholders, CRUSH has used AudioShake on numerous occasions to help deliver stems for several sync and other creative projects that are now underway.

One of Crush's artists is the pop punk band Green Day. The masters for the band's iconic album, Kerplunk (1991) are long lost, so to celebrate the album's 30th anniversary, they used AudioShake to pull apart the stems to their song, "2000 Light Years Away." They then used TikTok to share the vocals, drums, and bass stems, with lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong playing along live to the guitar. Fans could then play the guitar part as Billie did, getting a chance to play along with the band.

"AudioShake is the best technology I've ever used for extracting stems from a master recording. My team and I use it whenever we're in a pinch. It's a total game changer."
